Large Girth Gear for Mill & Kiln | Up to 15m Dia · Module 10-70 · Radial Runout ≤0.15mm | Henan Sankuang Machinery
Sankuang Machinery provides girth gear manufacturing with diameters up to 15 meters and modules 10-70, for ball mills, rotary kilns, and dryers.
Actual Delivery Case: In 2024, a cement plant's rotary kiln girth gear (8.5m diameter, four-segment type) developed tooth surface pitting and excessive vibration after 2 years of operation, with vibration reaching 7.2mm/s (standard requirement ≤4.5mm/s). Using multi-setup and pre-stressed machining combined with custom quenching fixtures, we controlled radial runout within 0.15mm (industry standard typically 0.25mm). Client's equipment vibration reduced to 3.8mm/s, with overhaul intervals extended from 18 months to 28 months.
Core Role of Heat Treatment: Heat treatment of large girth gears directly determines service life and operational stability, with three core objectives: optimizing microstructure for hardness and wear/impact resistance; eliminating residual stress and softening steel for cutting; refining grains for improved mechanical properties.
Materials & Configurations:
Materials: ZG42CrMo, ZG310-570, 42CrMo, 40CrNiMoA
Blank requires normalizing + tempering, hardness approx. 175HB
Configurations: Integrated, half-to-half, four-segment
Inspection Items: Chemical composition, mechanical properties, heat treatment curves, UT/MT, tooth hardness (3 points per 90°).
